Regent Lane Neighborhood Events: Skyway Film Series
This film series focuses on the iconic Sunshine Skyway Bridge. This week, the MFA is screening two films that celebrate the waters around our city: Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid and Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid (1948), directed by Irving Pichel.
Dive into the exciting tales of Weeki Wachee Springs with former mermaids Bonnie Georgiadis and Vicki Smith, setting the stage for the screening of Irving Pichel’s Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid. The movie which was partially shot on location at the Springs features the beautiful Ann Blyth as the Mermaid and William Powell as Mr. Peabody. In a flight of youthful fancy, the stodgy Mr. Peabody falls for the mermaid and takes her to a pond at his villa. The seemingly harmless crush creates all sorts of comical confusion.
